Four flagship events to look forward to at HOFEX 2021

Highlights at Asia’s No. 1 food and hospitality trade show, 7 to 9 September at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Held biennially for the last 34 years, HOFEX not only offers industry professionals the opportunity to showcase their products and services, but also to learn from industry experts, gain market insights and – what many are particularly keen to do this year – network in person.

However, if you’re stuck overseas or just can’t physically be there, there’s still a way to take part as HOFEX is using a new hybrid – online-offline – format. With its virtual platform, you can connect with exhibitors, arrange onsite and online meetings, watch livestreams and replays, and discover business possibilities from wherever you are.

With more than 1,000 brands – food, drinks, hospitality equipment and supplies – from over 10 countries and regions that include Denmark, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Scotland, South Korea, TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), United Kingdom, the USA and Bhutan, there is a veritable smorgasbord to explore.

We take a look at four flagship events to enjoy at HOFEX 2021.

Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (HKICC)
Endorsed by the World Association of Chef’s Societies and co-organised with the Hong Kong Chefs Associations, this brings together more than 300 chefs, cooks, pastry chefs and apprentices from across the globe. Watch them demonstrate their prowess and vie to win in competitions such as a Live Afternoon Tea Set Competition, Pastry, and Chinese and Western Cuisine.

Hong Kong Professional Mixologist Challenge 2021
Aimed at promoting and supporting the art of mixology, this offers competitors the chance to show their skills while making a signature cocktail. The challenge always attracts a great audience. (Bar Talk has more to come on this.)

Hong Kong Latte Art Championship and Hong Kong Coffee in Good Spirits – New
This new-to-HOFEX event co-organised with the Hong Kong Specialty Coffee Association challenges baristas in their coffee-making and serving skills. It also sees them battle it out in a two-part competition comprised of the Hong Kong Latte Art Championship, which highlights their artistry, and Hong Kong Coffee in Good Spirits Championship which focuses on their mixology skills.

FOODTECH Asia – New
Sustainability and food technology have become increasingly important in the last few years. This new event offers an overview of the food tech market and explores how innovations in alternative protein, cell agriculture and the Internet of Things are helping to create a more sustainable and efficient food system.

Look forward to seeing you there!
